A Large Bowl of Raspberries

Thu Feb 9, 2006, 10:45 PM
Thanks for all your conversations, views comments, faves and watches! Hope I haven't missed anyone individually. I totally appreciate each and every one of you! If that's possible...hmmm I don't know...

Yesterday I posted one of the pics my daughter in law took while we were at my aunt's picking berries last summer! I know I've got some more from that day too but I can't seem to find them in this mess after the 5 floods and all. Just don't seem to have the wherewithall to start sorting it out AGAIN! Anyway, it was a great day - not too hot for berry picking and not raining which in and of itself is a miracle in the Lower Mainland of BC!

Then one of my watched friends - Andréia Solha [link] (sorry I haven't figured out how to do all that fancy stuff here yet!) - check out her amazing site - mentioned raspberries again.

Then what do you know! I took out the last bag of frozen raspberries, nuked them for a minute, put on some milk, sugar and maple syrup (a Canadian speciality - lol!) and what a lovely desert! I highly recommend it!

Anyway, it made me feel quite a bit better than I did earlier today!

Yum, raspberries! My second favourite berry after blueberries!

What's yours? And what's your favourite reasonably low-cal desert?

(What the heck, we may as well have a conversation here!)

Low-cal??!! :O, sorry, not in my dictionary. As I'm slim, still can be totally omnivorous . Sigh...something must be wrong with me, for I have to keep on eating anything at the risk of vanishing, or at best, being able to hide behind a rope!!

Hummm...that Canadian specialty you mentioned made me drool, could gladly include it into my eat anything diet!! :D

Dang you're lucky. I tend to be on the chubby side myself and always lean toward healthier eating but no "dieting" for me! I hate that concept! I haven't got that kind of self-disciplne anyway. I do have a very efficient metabolism though. I hardly have to eat anything to stay fat!

Oops, the Canadian specialty I mentioned meant just maple syrup! I just put it in quotes because though it's considered such a big deal here, I know it's made all over the place. I have great fondness for it, put it on a lot of things and will drink it from the bottle on occasion! But then I do that with sweetened condenced milk too! Lol! [I don't eat sugar directly on its own though!] Dang it's ridiculous that though it's made right here we have to pay $7-8 CDN for a 375 ml bottle. That's the reason why so many Canadians use fake maple syrup or some other dumb thing.

Oh yessss...diet...arrrgh. You might get slim from that, but soooo unhappy!. That stuff has so many strange chemicals in it, that in the long run can kill you. Sooooo, as we have to die someday, let's do it in style at least...no diet trash! :lmao:. You have achieved a good balance staying away from the classic trash food, and leaning towards healthier eating. It keeps you happy and won't torture your body.

Maple cyrup with condensed milk? ...heaven!. Fake syrup will get even cheaper when it comes from China!...if it hasn't happened already :O

Yup, you're right!

Not maple syrup and condensed milk at the same time! but now that I think of it - that would be great on yogurt or something! I love that milk on strawberries as they do it in Japan! You should have seen the size of those strawbs - like a plum! And they tasted great too! Not fake at all!

Sorry, I can't help it! Anyway, you're skinny!

I went to the library today and I had to stop for something to eat so I had pakoras and chutney! Yum! Then a bowl of sesame seeds with soy sauce! Yesterday, I went to to get some food and to Flight Centre and I had to get something too! I had a large chicken donaire with tzadziki and hot saice! Yum! How about you?

This evening for dessert I'm having the same as yesterday, small yellow guavas with frozen blueberries, milk and white death! I'm mean white sugar. Yum!

See what you do??!! :poke:. Now I'm hungry again!!. All you had seems very yummy!. We are in the middle of a heat wave now, and tend to eat more light and refreshing food. But tonight, won't be able to resist a big goodies loaded pizza and

Why is it that nobody discovered a decent replacement for white death?. Most are pathetic imitations!

Don't poke me too hard!
I like brown death too!
Nice you are having a heat wave. It's stunningly cold here for Vancouver.

That sounds great! After all that desert talk, I went grocery shopping and came back with some fruit and a sandwich! The cheesecake slices were outdated! Dang! Then I almost went for Italian cheesecake icecream but decided it was too cold!
