In Dallas

Mon Mar 27, 2006, 12:33 PM
DALLAS, TEXAS

ChronicDoodler :iconchronicdoodler: has put me in her journal! [link] with this pic! Thanks so much Mary!

Now everyone please go and check out her stuff!

By popular demand :iconjoda11: has been brought back! (No slur against any of you other happy pixeleers! I'd love to collect more of these but so far, no one has sent me any! I also collect avatars of cute, [preferably] long-haired guys! So send me those too! :lmao: . )

Hey Y'all!

I'm here now and arrived safely and without unpleasant incident on the 23rd at 8:00pm and my sis wasn't there yet! Luckily she came only a few minutes later - hadn't even picked up my bag yet! So all's well.

Unfortunately for the first few days the net was down here and one of the computers wasn't working so this is the first time I've had to update.

We survived the birthday party of my 15 year old niece and all her buddies and neighbours.

Have already had delicious Texas steak barbecue and then chicken barbecue thanks to my bro-in-law's excellent skills - now he's gone for 2 weeks off to work, which will mean less cooking for me. Yay! But less barbecuing too...

So far the weather has been volatile! Who knows what to expect from day to day - just like Vancouver but warmer! (I won't like but I've had a more or less severe migraine everyday so far! Dang!)

Anyway, I won't have daily access to the net and I won't be able to answer all your notes and comments, especially your Deviancies and Journals! Sorry! but probably none of you will notice amongst the storm of other messages that you get! So don't worry if you can't answer my messages either for this short time!

Still looking for a camera, actually looked at and sort of tested out some at Frye's and Costco but of course the clerks weren't very helpful. So if anyone has any more ideas on that, let me know. Don't worry if you already sent me some advice - I'll go back and look that up too before I order one off the net. Anyone know any cheap camera websites - please let me know about that too!

We are still thinking of leaving Dallas for a weekend...looks like Cancun isn't $99/flight but goes up to $250 with taxes! Ridiculous! So I guess I'll have to do some net-hunting or we'll be likely to just drive to Galveston which everyone says isn't very pretty! But cheaper. Dang!

Any ideas on that are much appreciated!

Thanks all and talk soon!

Good luck and take care!

Hey sunshine, how goes life? Are you home yet? I am sorry I haven't been commenting on your stuff lately. There are couple of really awesome images in my LZ list of things to look at, but I just don't seem to find enough hours in the day. I will try to get to a couple today... in fact, as soon as I finish this post. :)

Just got home late last night. Still trying to catch up. Will never catch up. Trying to come up with some ideas but still have lots to post from before the trip, I think.

I need to find some hours to make some cash!

DA is behaving so weird these days, that clicked once and message wouldn't load. So, stopped the process and took the chance to add a :giggle:. Clicked again, and message appeared twice!

I'm so far behind that only now could get to your Journal. At least you were alive and kicking by March 27th. If you made it through a 15 years old's BD, you are saved.. I'm drooling on BBQ's, more considering I haven't had lunch yet. BBQ's are a specialty in Argentina accompanied by good doses of red wine. These can last for hours amidst annimated talks.

These people really know how to knock you off with taxes huh?. $99 soaring to $250 is insane for a relatively short flight! :steaming:. Hope you can find something resembling aqua at Galveston. Get your space suit ready, as far as I know, it's quite polluted.

You can't complain about the loyalty of your migraine, it even got through Customs following you!

Hope you have found a camera by now, but remember, always bear in mind for what are you going to use it. Then you can make the best choice within your budget. An affordable reflex could be the Fuji S5100. If not, Canon and Olympus have always an ample range of very good cameras. If you are not going to do prints, 4 megapixels will be more than fine. If you intend to do so, you'll have to look for at least 6 megapixels, but of course, that comes with a price. :giggle:

Enjoy LZ and take care. See you!

Still alive and kicking and trying to answer at least the bare minimum of comments and stuff. Thanks for keeping up with me!

We had some great food and 2 more barbecues I forgot to mention. I barbecued ribs in the oven one night before we went to Austin, then we had them again when we went out to Spring Creek Barbecue restaurant for the third time since I've been travelling to Dallas.

Galveston turns out to be a resort island, polluted by the hurricanes not industry. By now you know we didn't make it!

Migraines - loyalty:

I ended up not getting a camera because I can think of more important things to do with the money like living. ARG!

That was a good suggestion about the Fuji though. I had been looking at them before - awhile back. The camera you mentioned is no longer available though and none of the stores I went to had anything I liked in stock. What I wanted was rather expensive compared to what I thought. Another day perhaps!

Very labor intensive, isn't it?. Have just given up with most Journals. With almost 100 of them pending, it's impossible.

Barbecue = better if accompanied with red wine.

Galveston = hurricanes just scatter everywhere human caused pollution.

Migraines = suggestive empathizing.

Camera = sad but good decision, living comes first :cries:

Can't drink red wine anymore as it gives me a sure migraine! Arg! Used to love the stuff. And I've experimented with this lovely substance now enough to know that there's just no way. One beer is OK though I'm generally not a beer drinker. Strangely 2 cocktails of vodka and juice go down well and no migraine. Really over did it though on my "nymph night" aand paid a severe migraine toll the next day! Whoa!

Red meat - yay!

Austin had a lovely lake view (couldn't tell how polluted it was! ) but I was nearly too zombified to take a pic of it. We did though with my sis's basic still cam. We'll see if my bro-in-law will scan and send them to me. Gotta remember to email him!

Migraines - both yesterday and today but meds are working now! Got my 12 hours sleep last night finally!

Camera - thank god for fractals!

Too bad, red wine goes so well with red meat and makes you digest it better. However, it won't help with your migraines, you're right about it. Beer is so and so in this respect. And champagne?. Not very much in tune with you here, but something we could share is vodka and juice. Like to drink what we call a screwdriver, which is vodka with orange juice. Proportions of each, at consumer's discretion!

Are you sure it was Austin, not San Antonio or whatever?. It was such a psychedelic experience for you!

That's good news!

Camera -

You won't believe that I sat drinking 3 [weak] screwdrivers tonight at dinner with my gf and another 2 of her friends! Just got home, feeling no pain! Not the least bit drunk either. That's always been the thing with me - I go from not drunk at all to too drunk, though I've said before I've never been much of a drinker. This group of friends is though! Whoa! And they smoke like chimneys so I ended up having a mixed j when I ran out! Dang!

It was definitely Austin, !

You've just vividly described an "I wanna be there" situation :w00t:

Nothing Texas makes me feel happy :(
