Protest Cruelty to Animals

Wed May 31, 2006, 8:56 PM
Due to the posting and DDing of the kitten in a blender photo [link] , AS MY PROTEST please ignore my gallery until that photo and DD have been removed because it doesn't seem possible to deactivate my gallery. Now ppl are starting to write me and tell me that I'm destroying their artistic freedom, so I'll wait until for awhile until the dust blows over! What a chicken, eh? Buk, buk, buk! Whoo hoo, maybe I'll be banned too along with Trecman. Lots of other ppl are protesting so please do as you see fit. I'm not ready to leave dA yet but if this kind of stuff continues, I may have to seek another on-line home. What's up with this crap anyway!?!?!?

Of course, I'll still be writing and answering messages though.

Please wait for my friends' icons to load and then look at their galleries too!
Thanks!

What a vast array of comments here, ranging from intelligent ones, that really get the implications of the "innocent" piccie, to arrogant, rude and ignorant ones :puke:!!. Was it worth?. Sometimes feel relieved by the circumstances that keep me largely away from DA, and always having second thoughts about if to remain here or not. Anyway, most if not all art sites are quite about the same thing, and DA is very special for me to leave it at a snap of a finger. Still believe it's the best overall art site around , with many great friends...but you never know...

Hummm...probably should turn into Wolf mode and have a kitty for a light snack! =p

Thanks for this thoughtful and sweet comment about my journal - which must soon change - mi dulzura! I'd say that the whole thing was worth it to me - I just think it's sad that many ppl don't seem to see the implicit violence in the pic no matter what and think that it should be viewed as humourous.

But darling you must realise that I can't bear the idea of the Wolf eating a kitten! Next he'll be eating me, a Lion! :lmao:

The scope of what ppl find "humorous" seems to be very wide indeed! Surprised?...not at all. However it's supposed that being an artist or an aspiring one, implies more open mindedness and sensitivity. But the concept of being an artist is undermined by this kind of images. Anyway, we did the job as far as we could. Letting this pass on without saying nothing would have been shameful.

Hmmm...doubt that the Wolf would have Lion as a meal...but some delicatessen over the Lion sounds interesting, isn't it? ;) :boogie:

First of all I think you are taking this all wrong.

#1 that's not a kitten, it's a full grown cat, and sat it in the blender long enough to be photographed.

This cat and it's pet person, have a loving trusting relationship. This is obvious from the cat's "talking" while the pictue was being taken. I'm not sure the cat who owns me would have had the same patience!

It is an amusing comment on how far some pet owners will go to please their pet...like grinding up gormet goodies in a blender. It also required skill to get the cat to pose, as well as imagination to come up with the idea. It is artistic in the choice of the bright yellow background that frames and brings out the dark brown hues of the cat's coat.

It would have been cruelty to the cat if the lid was on the blender squishing it down in the blender. Even without the photographer's note, there is no way that this cat was hurt!

:lmao: You got it right I do think it would have been funnier if a human baby had been used though. Even better: adult earthquake victims from Indonesia. Now that would have been ironic! !!!

This is truly one of the better DD's I've seen now that you've enlightened me. You should have seen the artist's incomprehensible reasons for making this image. You're much better at explaining things and I'll come to you first next time! :lmao:
