Still on Vacation in Dallas!

Mon Apr 3, 2006, 8:01 AM
(((DALLAS, TEXAS

ChronicDoodler :iconchronicdoodler: has put me in her journal! [link] with this pic! Thanks so much Mary!

Now everyone please go and check out her stuff!

By popular demand :iconjoda11: has been brought back! (No slur against any of you other happy pixeleers! I'd love to collect more of these but so far, no one has sent me any! I also collect avatars of cute, [preferably] long-haired guys! So send me those too! :lmao: . )))

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HEY Y'ALL

Wassup Baby Girl as they say here!!!! Well some people do!

Have been having a great time - not doing much but taking a vacation from the vacation which is my life! Still have to cook, clean and put the kid to bed!

Actually doing some of someone else's work (my sis's) isn't nearly as tormenting as doing my own!

The computer set up is very uncomfortable here so I have been able to break its hold on me considerably which makes me homesick for my own sweet system.

Trying not to think of homesickness because when I get back to Vancouver (late April 13th for those I've left in confusion) it will be wintry again (no doubt) for another 2 - 3 months.

Here the weather has been variably warmish but we've had two gloriously sunny days so far (I guess that doesn't sound too great since March 23 but more than I'm used to!) and yesterday it was HOT enough to lie out and get in the pool! Yum! Seriously!

Last week Thursday and Saturday, sis and I went out dancing to this cool club called Memphis and danced a fair bit! The bands were great and it was quite the thrill to be told in person that you are beautiful and have nice lips and hair etc! :lmao: !!!! I'm not lying! Looks like I might even have a date! Ha! Sure@#$**^%!!!! Why are guys so unreliable - say one thing and do another?

Response from guys and girls on that question [or vice versa] would be most  amusing!!!!!!!! :lmao: :evillaugh:

We've cooked some great meals and gone out to some great restaurants. We're going clubbing again Tuesday - a fun excuse to put on a dress for the first time in around 10 years! :D and be oggled - not googled for a change!

As for Galveston, we've just received too many unpleasant (no offence to Galvestonians) comments about the place and its unreliable wind and weather and so since Corpus Christi and South Padre Island are too far to drive to and too expensive for us to fly to, we're looking at Austin now. Just two days left to cancel the Galveston (always liked that dumb Glen Campell song though I disliked him and the rest of his silly country muzac!) reservations and find some place cool and reasonable to stay in Austin - preferably with a pool and kitchenette. So please let me know so I don't have to do another ton of net research! My sis really needs a holiday from her non-holiday life too!

We'll be leaving here for there on Friday the 7th and be back on Sunday the 9th. Then I'm here again until Thursday April 13th  and back in Vancouver on that day!

Terrible as it sounds, I am so homesick I can hardly stand it! I have to keep putting it out of my mind (which isn't so hard with all the drugs I'm on ) and I desperately miss my kitties and writing to everyone here all the time! The kitties especially because I get my physical (as opposed to virtual) hugs from them!

Anyway, I can't very well apologize but I'm sure y'all understand why I haven't been answering messages, comments, notes, journals and deviations for the most part. Their computer thing is very poor ergonomically (though it's totally speedy) as I mentioned above and I can hardly sit here this long without being in pain! ARG!!! Migraines have only been slightly reduced since I've been here so I don't want to ruin my chances again!

But once again, I know that there's a reason for this - I'm not supposed to be on this machine for too long! The sun and pool beckon even though it's only 9:50am!

And about that camera! I still haven't rushed out (haven't rushed anywhere lately except yesterday when my sis realized she missed the (daylight savings) time change and she was late getting ready to go to my nephew's adjudicated sonatina recital!) and bought one. I hope that I'll have one before we go to Austin though....I just don't seem to feel like shopping though I did buy one of those flouncey skirts in black (or course) and some new underwear!!!! (At Costco for the a ridiculously low price) Also black! And now you know the truth about ElZed!!!

Wish me luck in my last 10 days here in Dallas! I may even have a chance to write again if anything exciting happens!

Take care, y'all! :D :evillaugh:

PS Just in case you're still reading!...I watched the movie The Five People You Meet in Heaven as my 9 year old nephew (then 7 or 8 ) was an extra in the movie. You can barely see him in one of the scenes where Eddie as a child is playing baseball in the street. He's one of the very blond kids that you DON'T get a good look at! Nonetheless , it's one of the best movies I've seen in a long time with the only problem being that I cried my entire butt off for the entire movie! ARG!!! I cried so much that I could hardly open my eyes the next day and I thought the swelling would never go down. That was Friday and today, Monday they are almost back to "normal: except for the larger than usual suitcases under my eyes! Watch it if you like sentimental, philosophical movies! I think even some guys would like it though there's no sex or violence to speak of!

PPS Just watched the movie that my nicest niece Claire was an extra in. Largely filmed in Vancouver, it was pretty cool to see though it made me very homesick! I only cried at the end when Ice Cube and the "lady" get together! :evillaugh:

I honestly wasn't going to read this journal in detail because it seemed so long but once started I couldn't stop :) your writting is so amusing and made me smile from start to finish. made me worried too! I fear you might not go home at all after this comming tuesday night. You might get abducted by a texan ( texan? not sure.. google won't tell me either... anyway .. a guy from texas) and be come a kept woman on a huge ranch with horses and sheep and lot's of guys with wide brimmed hats who have nothing else to do than admire your new undies and black skirt! Just be careful!!! Ok, if you watched another melodramatic film last night you might have red eyes today again from crying, perhaps that will save you from because you might hide the eyes then behind sunglasses which just might keep the texan at a distance.
I am so glad you are having a good time at yours sisters. How exactly do you bring these kids to bed? I never managed to do that very well with my own. I need a tip in case I ever become a grandmother and have to babysit.
Did I suggest already that you look at the Casio Exilim EX-Z850 8.0 MP? I really don't remember.... anyway I saw that at the shop and it looked neat. Couldn't try it out unfortunately as it was a discount store. Specifications:
8 megapix, zoom 3x optical (38--114 mm), Macro up to 10cm, movie function, internal memory 8 mb, 6,4 cm monitor (which is big on such a small cam). Size 89x59x23.7mm, weight 130g. The guy promised that it is fast and it has an optical view finder. I don't know about the lense quality but Caio has been in the digi cam business jfor a long time, one could expect that they use good lenses.
Take care, have a good time tonight and great fun in Austin.

Oh I nearly forgot. "Why are guys so unreliable - say one thing and do another?
" I have only one explanations:
1. Short memory.

Thanks for taking the time to read my whole journal Baba! Wow! I really don't expect people to read it half the time but it just comes pouring out of my brain to my fingers and I can't help it. I've always been a rather prolific writer and you aren't half bad yourself.

Thanks on the camera tip, Barbara . Looked up the one above that you suggested and it's not quite what I'm seeking. Found a particially digital EOS for under $200 but couldn't understand the comments about what was going to be different between this and new one coming out for $1000 something.

The salesfolks as usual are typically unhelpful and vague. I've now been to 3 big outlet stores including Walfart and have almost decided to wait or I will go broke anyway. However you did mention one camera - a Fuji something which I couldn't find on the Fuji site anymore. Apparently all camera companies have upgraded their cameras and haven't necessarily got the new more expensive versions in yet.

Though sis has paid for nearly everything (except the skirt and panties!), I still owe her for the trip to Austin which is where she's finally decided we're going after a quick weather check yesterday.

Turns out Galveston was going to be COLD so we aren't going there and then by the time we decided to go to Austin, found that there are 2 major events there this weekend and there was only one shlumpy hotel room left in the city (that included a pool) But at least it will be warm there! Plus it's only 3 hours rather than 5 hours drive. (You're right, the term is "Texan").

Don't worry, I'm on my way home in just 8 days, TTL! I'm having a great time but just the teensiest bored at times cos I can't read!!! ARG! Either the print is too small, too light, too dark, I have no concentration and my glasses are so messed up now that I will have to make a bit stink in order to get the new lenses that I need which my insurance company says it won't pay for! DANG!!!

Anyway, that's all for now - talk to you soon!

I am so sorry to hear about your eye trouble. What a drag. Sometimes glasses get stolen. Happened to one of my friends and the insurance they had against thievery paid for new ones.
I hope Austin will be worth the trip despite it being crowdy because of the ongoing events.
I didn't recommend a Fuji Camera. I don't know Fuji so if you are into Fuji you have to find out who it was if you want to discuss it. It's difficult to get good advise in discount stores, I know that from experience. Hopefully you find what you want and if not I am sure the pictures taken with your none digital camera can be scanned in easely if you want to.
I wish you a nice continuation of the vaccation. Good luck!

It was Wolf who recommended the Fuji. But they don't make that version any more. I ended up not buying a camera because I realised I needed the money to live on!

Wish I did! We did bring my sis's camera along and took a few pics of ourselves. Hopefully her husband will scan them and email them to me!

Sounds like you're having way too much fun down there, Leonie. Now don't bring home any more guys that are going to be hanging around being HELPFUL. Yes, I'd be homesick. too...not big on being gone more than a few days at a time. But you'll be home sweet home soon enough...and you're kitties won't know who you are cause you were gone so long. When we were gone for a week to Yellowstone...came home and our dog wouldn't have anything to do with us for a couple days. She probably thought we had abandoned her or something. =D So carry on. And You'll be back before you know it. :bye: Don't flounce that skirt too many places...with those black undies underneath. =D

Hey Janice Thanks for the comments on my journal! You are one of 4 that read it!

Anyway, I'm sick with homesickness for my cats and computer life-style. Just one more week! Getting rather tired of teenage drawma (as they say here) with my niece's friend bunking in for the week due to her idiotic adoptive mother kicking her out for an unstated amount of time!

The boys have proved to be massively unreliable and totally UNHELPFUL! And I mean that sincerely in every way you can imagine and I know you have a wild imagination! ARG!!! Talk about being stood up - I think it's a total of 4 times now! Or 5. Just forget the whole issue!

Now looking forward to Austin, leaving Friday am. Staying at a shlumpy hotel far from downtown as sis waited too long to change her mind again based on a last minute weather check. Galveston is to be CRAPPY!!! Austin is to be summery. It's been nice and warm here but humid and cloudy.

But nonetheless will be happy to be home soon!
